Our home is the intimate and elegant Brown Theatre. . .where we perform our main stage productions. But we also perform our Contemporary Opera Series in smaller venues: Comstock Hall at the University of Louisville School of Music as well as St. Francis in the Fields Church.
Cast Parties: Meet the main stage artists, the director and conductor, the chorus members, and the hair/makeup artists and costumers after the Friday night performance. Our cast parties are at the fascinating and spacious The Marketplace at Theater Square, located just around the corner from the Brown Theatre on 4th Street.
Opening Night Gala: Our season opening night—the Friday performance of our show in September—is filled with tuxedos and gowns and lots of glamor. There is always something new and exciting happening at the Brown Theatre on opening night.
Carnevale: Our black tie gala is a night filled with wine and spirits tastings, food beyond compare, hosted bars, incomparable entertainment by our Studio Artists, silent and live auctions of items you just won’t find at other auctions, and an after-hours lounge experience that will round out the evening. Learn more about the 2014 Carnevale.
Young Professional Opera Patrons (YPOP): Young Professional Opera Patrons (YPOP) is an exciting way to network with other young professionals and experience an art form that is a fusion of dance, song, instrumental music, acting, staging and production. We provide opportunities to go to performances with others who are not opera experts and to have fun doing it. To find out how you can be part of this new group, contact Michael Miller.
Whether you are a novice to opera and just want to see what this fusion of many art forms is all about or a seasoned opera goer, you will find plenty of opportunities to enrich yourself. Ovations! magazine gives you fascinating background on the composer as well as insights from the show’s director. There are lots of glimpses behind-the-scenes through Lunch and Listen, VIP Tours and Student Dress Rehearsals. Contact Deanna Hoying to find out more.
