mo-joes-cornerOK…here we go…Kentucky Opera is starting a blog called Mo. Joe’s Corner. “Mo” is short for “Maestro” and “Joe” is me, Joseph Mechavich, Kentucky Opera’s Principal Conductor. I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to share with you my thoughts about Kentucky Opera’s future endeavors, introduce you to our featured artists that will grace the stage of The Brown Theater, interview the unseen “stars” that work behind the scenes, and highlight the many topics in the world of opera.

Kentucky Opera is a gem. Even though I live in Philadelphia “The City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affections”, Kentucky Opera and Louisville have become a second home to me. Kentucky Opera produces thrilling mainstage productions at The Brown Theatre, provides a laboratory of creativity with our Composer’s Workshop, and reaches out to 13,000 students and 10,000 adults through our education and outreach programs. We have so much to make us proud!

I will get “nerdy” at times but it is my hope that this blog serves as a tool for understanding what we do at Kentucky Opera and why we do it!

All my best,
Mo. Joe
