Dear Friends,

We at Kentucky Opera hope you are staying healthy and safe. We’re sharing these virtual arts opportunities so you can continue to enjoy art from a distance, until we can reunite in person.

Kentucky Opera Participates in 2020 Virtual Cultural Pass

The 2020 Virtual Cultural Pass offers families in Greater Louisville with students (up to age 21) access to participate in virtual arts and cultural activities provided by nearly 50 organizations, free of charge, from June 1 through August 8, 2020.

This year, Kentucky Opera is participating with our Time with Opera program, encouraged for ages 3 – 8.  Join our teaching artist in this session of singing, read-aloud story time, movement, and story/character exploration using one of our favorite children’s books.

New Issues of Audience Magazine

Stay up to date on the Louisville arts scene with Audience Magazine! Go behind the scenes and learn more about Kentucky Opera’s costume shop in the May issue and our past production of Enemies, A Love Story in the June issue.

Des Moines Metro Opera Virtual Festival

In lieu of an in-person festival, Des Moines Metro Opera is teaming up with Iowa PBS to share online and televised presentations of its productions of Billy BuddRusalkaManonLe Comte Ory and Bon Appétit! These broadcasts will serve as the centerpieces of Des Moines Metro Opera’s transformed 2020 Virtual Festival and will be supplemented by artist recitals, cast reunions, interviews, prelude talks, and digital versions of annual DMMO events.

In addition to this virtual festival, explore what other organizations have to offer on our regularly updated Art from a Distance page for opportunities to enjoy art from wherever you are.

Donate to Kentucky Opera

The arts—especially the performing arts—have been deeply affected by the global pandemic. Your support during this difficult time will help Kentucky Opera weather the challenges presented by the pandemic and helps Kentucky Opera produce art onstage, in the community, and online.

The Kentucky Opera Board of Directors has created the Emerging Strong Fund, to match all new and increased gifts, up to $150,000. Our staff is hard at work on future productions and community programs that you can enjoy when we can gather again safely. Your gift to Kentucky Opera helps us serve the community with great and engaging art.

Our office is closed, but we are always here if you need us. Please feel free to reach out at Email@KYOpera.org or find us on Facebook or Instagram. We would be happy to hear from you.
