    Kentucky Opera Lecture Series: Rigoletto

    Main Library, Wednesday, February 6, 2019, 6:30 p.m.

    Join stage director Kathleen Belcher and conductor Roberto Kalb as they shed light on the continued relevance of the opera, and how to approach the misogyny, discrimination, and accountability in producing the opera for the audience of today.

    As part of our commitment to the community, Kentucky Opera makes the final dress rehearsal available to students and their families. $5 per pass in advance and $10 at the door. Doors open at 6:15. The rehearsal begins at 7:00 pm. There is no late seating, so please allow plenty of time to arrive at the theater. All tickets are held at will-call to be picked up the night of the dress rehearsal.

    To secure seats, we ask that all reservations be submitted one week prior to the dress rehearsal performances. Submit respective form(s) to Aubrey Baker.

    There are no refunds or exchanges. Passes are $5.00 in advance and $10 at the door. K-12 student groups should have appropriate adult supervision.

    *Schools can apply for transportation funding through the TranspARTation Directory with the Kentucky Arts Council to cover the transportation cost of select field trip dates at partnering organizations.

    Join the cast, chorus, and creative team to celebrate opening night of Rigoletto. The cast party for will be held at Marketplace Restaurant following the performance. Everyone attending the production is welcome to help the cast and staff celebrate Opening Night! Light appetizers and a cash bar will be available.     Join Kentucky Opera’s Director of Community Programs for a free 30 minute multimedia approach to preparing audiences for what they will experience during the performance. Musical and historical topics will be explored as well as Kentucky Opera’s philosophy on productions and new takes on standard repertory. Mainstage opera previews are one hour prior to curtain time in the rehearsal hall of the Brown Theatre.
