Screen Shot 2016-01-22 at 4.10.56 PMKentucky Opera is proud to employ local and regional talent in each and every one of our productions, and SHOW BOAT is no exception! We’re thrilled to welcome Jacob Pence back to the Kentucky Opera chorus for his fifth production with us.

A resident of Indianapolis, Jacob has been singing most of his life. “I got started at age 5 in church,” says Jacob. “My mother was a music minister.” Jacob also spent time in the church choir as an adult, leading his section at Cathedral of Assumption. When not performing with Kentucky Opera, Jacob is a regular performer in Indianapolis, teaches private voice lessons, and works as a trainer for Starbucks.

“I love working with Kentucky Opera, because everyone pushes me to sing well,” says Jacob. “They continue to raise the bar whenever I perform.” Jacob is passionate about opera and the role of classical music in American culture. “My favorite singer has to be Leonard Warren,” Jacob says. “He was a leading artist at The Met for many years, and was an unparalleled American baritone.”

When asked his favorite opera, Jacob had two answers. “Well, my favorite opera to perform is THE MARRIAGE OF FIGARO, but my favorite opera to just sit back and watch would have to be RIGOLETTO.” Great answers, Jacob – we love both of those productions!

Tickets are available now for SHOW BOAT, premiering at the Brown Theatre on Thursday, February 18.
