Kentucky Opera is proud to provide dozens of paid singing opportunities to local and regional vocalists with each of our Main Stage productions, including SHOW BOAT! This timeless piece of American music and theatre, premiering February 18, 2016, will feature more than 25 men, women, and children as indispensable members of our chorus.
This week, we got a chance to chat with Natasha Lynn Foley, our studio apprentice from the University of Louisville. SHOW BOAT will be Natasha’s fifth performance with Kentucky Opera. “I love singing with Kentucky Opera because it gives me the opportunity to grow as an artist,” says Natasha. “The experiences I have had this past year have been life changing.”
Natasha began singing seriously in high school, when she was introduced to the genre of opera and fell in love. As a Masters student at the University of Louisville, she performs in all the university productions, and is also a section leader at St. Martin of Tours. Of her passion, Natasha says, “Singing is empowering for me. When I step into that stage I feel like I can do anything and be anyone.”
What’s Natasha’s favorite part of the rehearsal process? “The first few music rehearsals are wonderful,” she says. “There’s nothing better than delving into the score and really making all those beautiful details happen.”
