Kentucky Opera is proud to provide many local vocalists with paying roles as chorus members in each and every one of our productions. This week, we get to know chorus member Maire Clement, who will be singing in MACBETH!
Maire Clement is a graduate student at the University of Louisville, and is joining the chorus of Kentucky Opera for the first time this month! Singing from a young age, Maire got her first start as a vocalist in her church choir and remembers creating harmonies with her mother on car rides. Although she is a voice student at U of L, Maire also enjoys playing ukulele and practicing yoga.
“Singing makes me feel whole,” says Maire, who notes sopranos Anna Netrebko, Renée Fleming, and Audra MacDonald as three of her primary role models.
We hope that you can join us for Maire’s Kentucky Opera debut in our production of MACBETH, September 18 & 20, and make sure to look for Maire in University of Louisville’s upcoming staging of THE MAGIC FLUTE.
