Happy Hour at the Frazier Museum with Kentucky Opera
Every Thursday through February 11 from 5-7pm.
Free Admission.
Join us for drinks and hors d’oeuvres to celebrate Black History Month through song. Kentucky Opera Studio Artists will perform Oh Freedom!, taking you through the cultural history of African Americans from pre-slavery to modern times, including the world premiere of a new composition by Harry Pickens based on one of President Obama’s recent speeches. Enjoy Brown-Forman wines, BBC Beer and snacks from Proof on Main. Access to all museum galleries begins at 5 p.m., with a brief performance from 5:30 to 6:15 pm.

A free concert featuring the world premiere of a new vocal composition - A CHORUS OF HOPE - written specifically for this event by Louisville composer Harry Pickens and performed by Kentucky Opera Studio Artists Erica Cochran and Phillip Morgan.
OH FREEDOM! introduces new audiences to the operatic art form by celebrating the African-American experience African-American cultural history through song from pre-slavery to modern times. Mayor Jerry Abramson will present the SPIRIT OF FREEDOM award followed by performances by River City Drum Corps, Arts Reach musicians and dancers, the Louisville Central Community Center choir, Voices of Kentuckiana, members of the Louisville Youth Orchestra and Walden Theatre featuring Keith McGill in a scene from the A NATION IN CRISIS.
